Post Sentence Supervision Order
Post Sentence Supervision Orders came into operation as of 1 July 2017, as a result of amendments made to the Sentence Administration Act 2003 (WA).
A Post Sentence Supervision Order, also called a PSSO, is a community supervision order made by the Board that imposes community supervision obligations (conditions) on specific prisoners following the completion of their sentence.
A PSSO does not lengthen the prisoner's original sentence and is not part of the punishment for the offence for which the prisoner has just completed a prison sentence. The purpose of a PSSO is to provide further protection to the community following completion of the prisoner’s sentence by imposing conditions on the prisoner.
The supervision period imposed cannot be less than six months or more than two years. The PSSO supervision period begins from either the prisoner’s sentence maximum date or the date after their Parole Order Expiry Date.
