The Prisoners Review Board (the Board)
The Board considers and determines whether a prisoner is suitable to be released and remain on parole. It also considers whether or not to impose Post Sentence Supervision Orders upon liable offenders.
The Board considers various categories of prisoners and makes various decisions. These decisions include, but are not limited to:
- making a Parole Order, amending an existing Parole Order or cancelling a Parole Order.
- denying release, adjourning a matter or continuing a Parole Order suspension.
- making a Re-entry Release Order.
- making recommendations to the Attorney General about re-socialisation programmes or parole (in relation to Life and Indefinite offenders).
The Board sets policies in relation to its functions and maintains appropriate record keeping.
The Board is governed by the Sentence Administration Act 2003 (WA). The focus of the Board’s decision making is set by sections 5A and 5B of the Sentence Administration Act 2003 (WA).
Parolee Supervision: The Board is not responsible for supervising a parolee in the community. This is the responsibility of Adult Community Corrections (Corrective Service).
Accommodation Assessments: The Board does not conduct accommodation assessments. This is the responsibility of Adult Community Corrections (Corrective Services).
