Duration of Parole
The release date is set by the Board but it must not be any earlier than a prisoner’s earliest eligibility date (EED) which is determined by the Court during sentencing. However, in some circumstances, a release date will be after the EED to allow for such things as:
- Completion of a treatment programme;
- An accommodation assessment;
- An admission date for residential rehabilitation; or
- Any other reason that will assist parole being successful and secure the risk to the safety of the community.
